Overview of colored laminated glass

A colored interlayer system enables laminated glass to be produced in various colors.

Available in 16 base interlayer colors of a 0.38mm thickness, combined using an online color selector tool at www.vanceva.com. A maximum of 4 interlayers can be laminated to create a whole new aesthetic for both interior and exterior applications in transparent, translucent, or opaque colors.

Vanceva^® Color offers a unique custom color system that can produce a seemingly endless spectrum of transparent or translucent color options in laminated glass. Applications are almost endless but include curtain walls, atriums, partitions, and conference rooms.

The pigmented interlayers are heat- and light-stable, so they will not fade. When subjected to vigorous test conditions, Vanceva^® interlayers retained their colorfast properties as well as structural integrity. Vanceva^® Color is currently available in a foundational palette of 15 basic colors shown below. These 15 colors can be combined with up to 4 colors in each laminate to provide over 2000 color combinations.

Installation

Glazing systems must allow for water drainage or be completely watertight to prevent laminated edges and the interlayer from long-term moisture exposure.
Certain sealants may cause edge de-lamination such as linseed oil or putty, neutral cure silicone sealants are recommended.

Applications

A single PVB interlayer is 0.38mm thick, however, when incorporating multiple interlayers for color achievement the final thickness is commonly up to 1.52mm thick.
For external applications, the potential solar absorbance of the colored interlayer will commonly require the use of tempered glass components i.e. heat strengthened or toughened.
